Challenges that originate from the overwhelming information, competing priorities and constant pressure that need to be dealt with on a daily basis. As a result of this most people are permanently “busyâ€, with potentially devastating effects on their health and family life.Tony Crabbe convincingly argues that, although traditional “time management†techniques can be useful, they do not solve the problem. The reason for this is that they only, and then partially, help in dealing with the symptoms, but do not address the root cause of the issue.The root cause is the fact that people often feel they need to do and be everything for everybody, which is a recipe for failure. Tony Crabbe argues that we first need to reflect on who we are and take conscious decisions about what we want to be. Once these decisions are taken, it will be obvious which priorities we have to set and which activities we need to do in order to become what we aspire to be. This can be scary and definitely takes courage, which is the reason why most people prefer to hide behind their busyness. The consequences of avoiding these choices however may be even scarier and potentially fatal.The book is a very accessible and convincing read.
